1. New Honda Civic 2019
After launching the CRV diesel and new Amaze, Honda is now gearing up for the launch of the new generation Civic sedan in the Indian car market in 2018-19 financial year. The vehicle was unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. For the first time, the Civic sedan will get the 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, i-DTEC turbocharged diesel engine that produces 118bhp and 300Nm of torque. The gasoline model will feature the 2.0-litre i-VTEC unit that is good for 139bhp and 174Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit. The new Civic sedan is based on the new chassis, which makes it lighter, stiffer and safer than the old model.

2. Tata Harrier
This is undoubtedly the most awaited car in the Indian market. With this SUV, Tata will enter into the 5-seater premium SUV space. It is also the brand’s first model based on the new OMEGA ARC platform, which is derived from Land Rover’s D8 architecture. Moreover, the Harrier will also debuts the brand’s new IMPACT 2.0 Design philosophy. The SUV gets a segment-best 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and JBL sourced speakers. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that is likely to produce around 140bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. In terms of pricing, the Harrier will sit between the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Compass.

3. New Maruti WagonR
India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is also working on the new-generation WagonR hatchback. Likely to be launched in the first quarter of 2019, the new model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. The new WagonR is based on Suzuki’s new-generation HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Swift and Dzire. The new model will have better equipped and spacious cabin. It will continue with the tall-boy design. The new WagonR will be powered by a 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine producing 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the hatchback will get a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission).

4. Nissan Kicks
Japanese carmaker, Nissan will launch the long-awaited Kicks compact SUV in India in January 2019. While the global-spec model is based on the Nissan’s V-platform, the Kicks for India will use the heavily localised Renault’s MO platform. The SUV will be longer, wider and taller than the global model. It will also receive several segment leading comfort & convenience features. For the Indian market, the Nissan Kicks will receive a 108bhp, 1.5-litre diesel and a 105bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine.

5. Tata 45X
Homegrown passenger vehicle maker, Tata will enter into the premium hatchback segment in 2019. The company will launch a premium hatchback based on the 45X concept, which was previewed at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. With this hatch, the company will debut the brand’s all-new Alpha platform that will be used to develop future cars including next-gen Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. It is likely to share mechanics with the Nexon compact SUV, which means a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel.

6. Kia Trazor
Korean automaker, Kia will launch its first model in India in 2019. The company will introduce the SP concept based SUV, which is likely to be called the Kia Trazor. The SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. Built on the modified Creta’s platfrom, the Kia Trazor is likely to get a new 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine and an all-new turbo petrol engine. It will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and others in its category.

7. Mahindra S201
Among several other new models, Mahindra is also working on a new subcompact SUV that is being developed under the S201 codename. The SUV will share platform with SsangYong Tivoli X100 and is expected to be offered in two variants. Upon its launch, the model will rival with Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza in the segment. In terms of styling, Mahindra S201 is expected to borrow most of the cues from Tivoli. As for mechanicals, it could get a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit and anew While the company hasn’t revealed the official name, reports in media suggest, it could be called XUV300.

8. Hyundai STYX/Carlino
Korean automaker, Hyundai will finally launch the production-ready Carlino SUV in India in the first half of 2019. Codenamed QXi, the new SUV is expected to be called the Hyundai STYX. It will be brand’s next global SUV, which will also go on sale in select international markets. The small SUV will be slotted below the Creta in Hyundai’s portfolio and will rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport. It will also mark the debut of Hyundai’s new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 118bhp of power. The oil burner will be a 1.5-litre turbo unit.

9. Maruti Suzuki ZEN/Future S
India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki will launch a micro SUV in 2019. The new model was first unveiled at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo as Concept Future S. If reports are to be believed, the small SUV could be called the new Maruti Suzuki ZEN. It will be based on the Suzuki’s new-generation platform, which also underpins the Swift twins.

Japanese automaker will launch its global SUV – HR-V – in the Indian market in the second half of 2019. This SUV will be brand’s new 5-seater SUV to challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier. This SUV will be powered by a newly developed 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that produces 118bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. The petrol version of the SUV will get a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that is good for 118bhp.
